This is perfect for an iPad, iPhone, iPod etc. I purchased it more to use with Netflix because some of the movies have poor sound. It's small enough to travel with and doesn't need charging. The volume is controlled by your device. It also has an input for an ear jack but I don't use it. Great for playing music on the deck.
Works a lot better than my road pro. Sounds clearer and My radio puts out about 80 watts. Get it!!
I actually bought one of these second hand from a friend who had just bought it and had to get rid of it after two days because his wife told him it was too loud. I had bought an external speaker from a competing company and the back of it rattled terribly when people modulated unless you pressed against the back of the speaker, so I was looking for something to replace it with First and foremost, the audio quality is much better than what came out of the other external speaker, and it doesn't rattle when some of these loud locals get on the air. The speaker also has a built-in headphone jack, so if your radio is in a tight space and you still want the option of plugging in headphones, you can do so without having to find the back of your radio to unplug the external speaker. The speaker has an adjustable bracket on the back with screw holes in various places on two flat sides of the bracket to allow you to mount it and angle it however you want. The speaker in and of itself feels much heavier and tougher than the one I had from the competing company as well, and the bracket is much thicker and less flimsy than the one on the other external speaker as well. It uses a standard headphone plug so it's not limited to use with CB radios, you can use it with anything you want to as long as the output does not exceed 15 watts. The only bad thing about this speaker is that this isn't the model with built-in noise blanker or talk back, but most CB radios come with their own NB/ANL these days anyway, so that's not a factor for me. Overall this is a great little external speaker for the price, especially considering the garbage I got for the same price from that "other" company. It offers a richer sound quality than the built-in speaker, even the one in my Cobra 148 GTL, and it's nice since nobody makes CB base stations any more and I have to use a mobile radio with a transformer as my base station, to be able to have a front facing speaker on my desk in lieu of the one built into the radio that's facing down into the table. I could also see it being used in vehicles where the radio's built-in speaker can't overcome outside noise, or where the radio has to be installed in a location where the built-in speaker is covered up. I've attached a couple of photos showing the front of the speaker, a side shot with the headphone jack and one of the locking screws for the bracket, and and angled shot of the bracket itself so you can see the screw holes. I just have the bracket folded back so the speaker sits flat on my desk, so I can't show you how it looks mounted.
It works great and price was great too
The quality of the speaker is something else. Built like a tank with multiple mountings options. Clear modulation and talk back.
Works great! Like the large size. Easy to hear over the noise from having the tops off on my Jeep Wrangler.
It looks good and they keep sending me these emails to do a review but alas I have not installed it yet but maybe this will stop the emails.
The speaker in my Cobra 29 LTD is Ok. If you run a truck like i do, placement of the radio in the overhead or on the dash can muffle sound. So this speaker is a must have. The 5.5 oz. magnet is twice as loud and more clear.I have had cheaper truckstop speakers. this is a great product.
I was using a mobile CB radio as a base station and had to prop it up to hear the speaker. I found this external speaker at ZORO. It is solid construction, sounds good, looks good and installs nicely. It has a tilt feature. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I have not had installed yet.
